So many things have happened... I will have to break them up into separate posts in order to keep you interested!
We are here in Moscow, and have been since the end of August. Erik is finishing up his Master's degree and will be graduating mid-May. Although he's busy with classes, homework, he is putting in 20 hours a week. He's working for the University of Idaho, doing audits for their accounting department and as a tutor in the accounting lab. Something else that is on his plate is CPA prep. He will be taking the first part of the CPA exam in March.
Back in October, Erik interviewed with a lot of firms all over including some in Boise, Spokane, Las Vegas, and Anchorage. Finally, we decided on KPMG, an international accounting firm, that is located in Anchorage, Alaska. It is one of the "big four" accounting firms and will be a great springboard to a successful career in his field. We don't know how long we will be in Anchorage, but we estimate 2-5 years roughly.
After five years there, he can pretty much get a job doing whatever he wants and making great money doing it. That will be a new experience for our family... actually having money! That is a downside to being a student, but it will pay off in the future and it has been a blessing to experience having little to no money. Hopefully it will have instilled humility in our family and we will appreciate and take care of our belongings that much better when we are in the "acquiring state" of our life.
Our blog will be a major way to keep up with all of you out there and vice-versa, so expect to see more posts! It is such a wonderful way to keep up with all of you good friends and our family out there, particularly now since we will be living even further away.
